MORE THAN A MARTIAL ART
Aikido is a modern non-competitive martial art practised equally by women and men based on dynamic flowing movements.
Aikido is more than just a physical workout. Aikido can improve your mindfulness and mental focus.
Sankaku Aikido Didsbury
We are a new Aikido club founded in 2019 located in the Didsbury area of Manchester. Sankaku Aikido is also near Withington, Northenden, Fallowfield, Burnage, Heaton Moor and Heaton Mersey.
Do you have Aikido classes for beginners?
Beginners are always welcome to our classes. Aikido enables beginners to join in straight away which means there is no need for separate beginners classes. Everybody who trains in Aikido prioritises the safety of their training partner and so beginners are always looked after.
If you want to see what our classes look like this short video shows a typical Sankaku Aikido class in action.
The sections below provide further details about Aikido. We are looking to bring Aikido to new audiences and make this non-competitive martial art welcoming and accessible. We explain this further in the sections that follow below.
If you already know you want to start Aikido, and just want a quick summary of the essential information, you can jump to our beginners checklist instead.
Is Aikido Right for Me?
Each person has something unique to bring to Aikido and that is what we want to develop with you. Thinking martial arts are not for you? Think again.
What is Aikido?
Aikido translates as ‘the way of harmonising with energy’. Aikido does not involve fighting or even learning how to fight. We learn to use relaxation, balance and movement.
We are keen to bring the benefits of Aikido to the widest possible audience. Our teaching is based on a series of easy-to-learn flowing movements that make Aikido accessible to all.
When & Where?
We train in the Didsbury area of Manchester. We are easily accessible by car and public transport. Click below for further details on training times and costs.
