Beginners checklist

Due to Coronavirus our classes are temporarily cancelled. However, sports facilities are gradually reopening. We are awaiting guidance from our governing body on when training can resume. Tuesday evenings 7.15 pm to 8.45 pm (but please arrive a few minutes before practice to get changed and help put out the mats)

How much?

Discounted trial membership of £10 that covers the first four classes (£5 per class thereafter)

What to wear?

Loose fitting sports or leisure clothing is fine – no need for a white martial arts suit (but shorts are not recommended)

What is the minimum age level?

We can accept students from aged 14 upwards. See our safeguarding page here for more details

Will Aikido be suitable for me?

Aikido is non-competitive and inclusive in nature. Anyone can try it. We have a page that explains more here

Will I learn self-defence?

Aikido can be adapted to self-defence at the advanced level, but we are not teaching self-defence classes as such. We are teaching a Japanese martial art system. We explain more about Aikido here
