Child protection & safeguarding

Our approach to safeguarding

All our instructors have received training on safeguarding issues as part of their coaching qualifications.

At Sankaku Aikido we are happy to accept junior students who are aged 14 or over.

The British Aikido Board (governing body for Aikido) and the Lancashire Aikikai (our parent association) have set out detailed guidelines in relation to safeguarding that all clubs must comply with if they welcome students who are under 18.

At Sankaku Aikido we are signatories to the policies set out by the British Aikido Board. The details of these policies can be found on the Lancashire Aikikai website. Please click here to visit the Lancashire Aikikai child protection and safeguarding page for further details of the relevant policies.

Contact our Club Welfare Officer

All clubs that offer teaching to under 18’s within Lancashire Aikikai have appointed a Club Welfare Officer (CWO).

The CWO at Sankaku Aikido is Marco Ford. He can be contacted at the following email address:

(address will follow shortly)

Alternative contacts for safeguarding issues

In addition to our own club’s CWO students and parents can contact the Lancashire Aikikai safeguarding officers at any time. Their contact details can be found on the Lancashire Aikikai website by clicking here.
